11 months old!

My, my, my, this lady is close to the one year mark!  She is insanely happy most of the time and is really developing her own little personality.  She loves to make people laugh and seems to feed off the energy of others--our little extrovert.  Fi has this goofy little giggle she uses when she knows she has done something funny like playing peek-a-boo.  She is also a little explorer and has mastered the art of climbing stairs.  Now that the weather has been breaking, she has enjoyed being outside in our yard.  We have spread out a blanket and let her crawl around to touch the leaves and grass (and she got a taste of dirt today--there was not a repeat tasting).  For the last few months we have a hard time getting her to show us the month stickers so we dropped it into the photo.  As you can see she is very eager to get her hands on it.  One year old is so close she can almost reach it!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day from our mischievous little leprechaun!  She can't say a full sentence yet or even a whole word, and she definitely hasn't kissed the Blarney Stone, but I think this one may have the Irish gift of gab.  And boy are those Irish eyes a smiling in this picture!!!  Can I get in another Irish pun? ... I-rish you all a happy St. Patty's Day!!!

Climbing the Walls...Pun Intended

The family is getting eager for winter to be over.  Even when it is chilly in the morning, Fiona beams as soon as we go outside.  We took her out for a nice run on Saturday that she babbled her way through, followed by a garage sale at the house across from us (scored two mirrors and a table!).  With a healthy dose of some iced coffee, we had to take the girl inside so we could work on our house projects.

For the most part, Fiona patiently played and entertained herself.  This included her scaling the walls Mission Impossible style.  It came out of the blue.  I was putting some things away in her room while she played on the floor.  She pulled herself to her feet and started shuffling along the wall.  Out of curiosity, I let her go.  She made her way out of her room and down the hallway to where Tim was spackling.  Rather impressive!!  She was equally patient today while Nana and Poppa were here to help with some painting.  She flipped through a lot of books and played in her Pack-n-Play with a bag of socks while the rest of us worked away (me a lot less so than everyone else as I was on Fiona duty).

One Sick Baby

Sorry that this post is a little delayed.  Fi was sick, I was sick, and we are trying to do a lot around the house so life is a bit crazy.  Fiona wasn't feeling great last week, but she was an adorable little trooper.  I have started corralling her in the living room with furniture since she is so mobile now.  Here is our sick little sweetie sitting in her chair... and there she is just a moment later when it dawned on her that she could stand on her chair.  Sigh.  And check out the improvised belt--the skinny, buttless child.

Ten Month Old Fun

Fiona had all sorts of big girl fun this week.  She continues to impress us with her increased mobility.  She is crawling well and using her walker as a walker instead of just a perch from which to watch tv.  The other day, she took her walker across the living room and then shuffled her way all the way around the back of a chair to a tray of miscellaneous items that I had intentionally moved there to be out of her way.  She is definitely starting to express frustration, which is trying and amusing.  For instance, she lets out a tempered cry when she runs into the ottoman or something else  that impedes her path with the walker.  The end of the week brought some fun.  She played with cousins Bridget and Luke who were so sweet to her.  Bridget seemed to relish being the older cousin and would bring her toy after toy to play with.  Then Fiona had a little sleepover at my parents.  She was supposedly a delight other than not sleeping well, which we experienced firsthand last night. Her nose is very running, either because of a cold or heavy teething (she does have a new tooth up top with a second one breaking through alongside it).  We tried propping up her mattress but ultimately had to aspirate her a few times in the middle of the night, and then she joined us in bed.  As I write from our bed, Fi woke up and seeing herself on the computer screen just giggled.  Tim said she wanted to make sure I wasn't writing anything slanderous about her (like when she put her foot her in poop during a diaper change).
