Mommy needs to work

I have been working for a few weeks now at part-time.  Fi has been really good about letting me eek out a few hours at the office, aka Starbucks.  She lets the sounds and smells lull her to sleep, while I work on my computer and drink iced coffee (free refills with my gold card)!  To get some uninterrupted work done though, I have to call on the grandparents.  Thus, our trip to Maryland late this week.  It is a win-win situation though.  I get to work, and they get to soak in the cuteness that is Fiona.  And she has been quite the cutie.  Here she is hamming it up in her dress.  She was all smiles and giggles for Mom-mom!

Long and lean!

Fiona had her 2 month appointment today.  She is 9 pounds 14 ounces (24th percentile) and 23.25 inches (75th percentile)!!!  I was initially concerned about the big difference in weight and length percentiles, but she is following the curve so it isn't a problem.  Looks like we may just have a tall skinny girl on our hands.  Hopefully, she will have Tim's nice long legs.  I always felt my legs weren't bad, but they don't beat the Grenko's!

Two months old!

Fi is a whopping two months old! She has done so much over the last two months. She is an expert car rider, handling two to three hour trips like a champ. She is also great at exercising: playing around on her activity mat, lifting her head during tummy time, and holding her head up when we sit her upright.  She's even getting the hang of sleeping through the night in the bassinet.
Plus, her smiles are to die for (bring on the giggles!!!).  We feel like the luckiest parents in the world!

Father's Day Weekend

Tim and Our Beach Baby
Fiona spent Father's Day weekend at the shore and got to see all the fathers in her life: Tim, Papa (Tim's dad), and Grandpa (my dad).  She made cards for them all.  I'm getting quite good at helping her sign cards (i.e., add her footprint to them) to the point that I can do it while she's awake!  She's very cooperative.

Fi spent quality time on the beach with Tim on Saturday and took him to breakfast at Varsity Inn on Sunday, which she slept through.  And since Tim spent most of the day at the US Open on Sunday with his brother, she and I went to Wonderland with Nana, Aunt Erika, and cousins Claire and Janie. She and Janie bonded parked alongside each other in their strollers while Claire enjoyed the rides.

Girls' Week at the Shore

Sitting with Nana
Fiona spent most of her week at the Shore with Nana, Aunt Erika, and cousins Claire and Janie plus several other visitors.  Since Claire has a little baby sister of her own, I imagined that Fi may not be of much interest to her, but Claire is not short on love and affection.  She gave Fi (and Janie) hundreds of kisses, which Fi took happily.

In addition to being a beach bum, Fi has been practicing holding onto things.  She had already been grabbing at my hair, the car seat straps, and her outfits, but now she is starting to hold toys like a knit Zubel from Nana.  I have to help her make a fist around the toy, but then she holds on tight and shakes shakes shakes!!

Tim worked hard while Amanda and Fi played and napped

Napping on the porch
While the family spent the weekend at the Shore, it was a radically different weekend for Tim than it was for me and Fiona.  Tim spent most of the two days landscaping: digging, planting, and sweaty labor.  For Amanda and Fi though, it was a relaxing weekend.  We hung out with cousins Claire and Janie, went for walks on the boardwalk, and napped on the porch.  Fi spent a lot of time in her bonnet, which she didn't mind at all.  Hopefully we will make it out onto the beach later this week.  Of course, naps on the porch aren't so bad either.

Rub a dub dub

We continue to be impressed at how good Fiona is at bath time.  She doesn't cry or squirm as we move her about the tub.  Towel time seems to be her favorite part though.  We wrap her up and rub her down from head to toe.  Of course she doesn't like when rubs slow her down from bottle time with Daddy.  Our little bath time bear practices her growl then.

All smiles

A couple weeks ago, Fiona started showing hints of smiles.  They were the kind of quick, spontaneous smiles that we couldn't be sure that they were real or intentional.  We have been getting more and more of those smiles now, and they knock our socks off every time.  I don't have words adequate enough to describe how awesome these smiles are, so I will just show you what I mean.

Heat wave

The summer heat is here, so Fi started sporting more of her sleeveless outfits.  I think she likes her shoulders exposed.  Look at that cute face!!  Now that she broke the 8 pound mark (8 pounds 8 ounces and almost 22 inches as of this week), she is starting to fit into more clothing of which she has lots.  One benefit of having so many older girl cousins is the nice hand-me-downs (thank you Aunt Colleen).  Those along with new outfits from family and friends adds up to one impressive wardrobe.  I wasn't much of a doll person as a child, so I am surprised by how much I enjoy dressing her up.

The heat didn't keep us inside completely though.  Grandma, Grandpa, and I took a trip to Bushkill Falls, the so-called Niagara of Pennsylvania according to the billboards.  It was not Niagara by any means, but it was a nice walk with a cool breeze at the bottom of the falls.  Fi slept through the whole thing, while Grandpa and I sweated out the climb from the bottom of the falls to the top.
